Brazil’s main port and scrap gateway
Santos, the port of São Paulo, is the largest port in Latin America and the sea door for Brazil’s scrap trade. Brazil is largely self-sufficient in scrap — its EAF and integrated mills and its secondary aluminium industry consume domestic collection — but Santos handles the import of specialised grades and the export of surplus non-ferrous scrap to Asia and Europe.
The São Paulo industrial region behind the port holds Brazil’s largest concentration of scrap processors and mills.
