Container scrap import and transhipment

Busan, the largest port in South Korea, is where containerised scrap from the United States, Japan and Australia enters for the Korean steel, copper and aluminium industries, and where Korean scrap is transhipped or exported. The country’s EAF mills at Pohang, Ulsan and the south-east coast take imported ferrous scrap through Busan and the mill ports nearby.

Busan’s container services to every Pacific port also make it a transhipment hub for scrap moving between Japan, the United States and South-East Asia.
