Scrap import for the Seoul industrial belt
Incheon serves Seoul and the industrial belt of Gyeonggi province. Its EAF steelworks, non-ferrous smelters and the dense network of scrap processors around the capital take imported scrap through Incheon’s bulk and container terminals, with Japan and the United States the main sources.
The port is also the landing point for scrap from China and Russia, and its proximity to the capital’s construction and demolition industry makes it an export point when domestic supply exceeds demand.
