Scrap import for Taiwan’s EAF and stainless mills
Kaohsiung is Taiwan’s largest port and industrial city, and its EAF steel mills and stainless producers rely on imported scrap. HMS and shredded arrive from the United States West Coast, Japan and Australia in bulk and in containers, and stainless scrap comes from the same sources for the island’s stainless flat-product industry.
The port’s container terminals also handle non-ferrous scrap for Taiwan’s copper and aluminium processors.
