Scrap import for Thailand’s eastern seaboard
Laem Chabang, Thailand’s deep-water container port on the eastern seaboard, serves the steel, copper and aluminium industries of Chonburi and Rayong. Imported scrap arrives in containers and in bulk for the EAF mills and the secondary smelters of the industrial estates, and Thailand, like Malaysia, processes mixed non-ferrous scrap for re-export to China.
Thai rules on scrap imports and on e-waste have tightened; current conditions are on our Thailand page.
