Scrap import for Java’s mills
Scrap import for Java’s mills
Tanjung Priok is Indonesia’s main port and the entry for scrap going to the steel mills and foundries of Jakarta, Bekasi, Cilegon and Surabaya. Indonesia imports ferrous scrap from Australia, Japan, the United States and Singapore, mostly in containers, and its import rules require registered importers and inspection.
The country’s nickel industry at Morowali and elsewhere is separate from the scrap trade, but stainless scrap and nickel-bearing material do enter through Tanjung Priok and Surabaya for the island’s processors.
