İskenderun in the scrap trade

Bulk scrap discharge for the south-eastern mills

İskenderun, on the Mediterranean coast near the Syrian border, is Turkey’s south-eastern steel port. Several large EAF mills and an integrated works operate in the bay and take imported scrap from the United States (particularly the Gulf and East Coast), Europe, Russia and the Black Sea. Cargoes discharge at the mills’ own berths and at the public port.

İskenderun’s position gives it a shorter voyage from the US Gulf than the Marmara ports, and its mills are among the largest individual scrap buyers in the world.
