New South Wales bulk scrap export
New South Wales bulk scrap export
Newcastle, north of Sydney, is a bulk port built for coal that also loads Australian ferrous scrap for Asia. New South Wales shredders and processors truck scrap to the Kooragang and Carrington berths for bulk cargoes to Vietnam, Bangladesh, Indonesia and India. Australia exports a large share of the scrap it collects because its steel industry is small relative to collection.
The portβs bulk loading capacity makes it the preferred alternative to Sydney for full vessel loads.
