32 named firms across 5 scrap hubs — Brisbane, Melbourne, Newcastle, Perth, Sydney
Australia's electric arc furnace mills in New South Wales and Victoria run on domestically collected scrap, while the country remains a consistent net exporter of both ferrous and non-ferrous material to Asian markets. Sims Limited, one of the world's largest metal recyclers, is headquartered in Sydney.
The non-ferrous side is anchored by primary aluminium smelting at Tomago and Portland, zinc and lead smelting in Tasmania and South Australia, and copper smelting in Queensland — alongside a national network of independent scrap processors.
The exchanges and price services the trade in Australia quotes against. Scrap is priced as a discount to these.
A firm that handles several metals appears under each.
