Liverpool in the scrap trade

Seaforth bulk scrap terminals

Liverpool is the west-coast counterpart of Tilbury. Scrap from the north of England, the Midlands, Wales and Scotland is railed and trucked to the Seaforth and Canada Dock terminals and loaded in bulk for Turkey, the Mediterranean and South Asia. The port handles shredded, HMS and bonus grades and has the water depth for the larger bulk carriers.

The Liverpool region also contains shredder plants and non-ferrous processors, and the port’s container terminal ships copper, aluminium and stainless scrap to India and the Far East.
