55 named firms across 7 scrap hubs — Birmingham, Felixstowe, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Sheffield, Tilbury
The United Kingdom has a long industrial history with metals. The country supports steel production, copper refining, aluminium handling, and stainless steel manufacturing, along with an active recycling sector.
Operations are spread across England, Wales, and Scotland, with concentrations in the Midlands, the North West, Yorkshire, and around the principal ports of Tilbury, London Gateway, Felixstowe, Liverpool, and Immingham. The sector includes both publicly listed companies and a long-established base of privately held recyclers and traders.
The British Metals Recycling Association (BMRA) is the trade body for the sector. The Environment Agency's end-of-waste framework applies to the trade.
The exchanges and price services the trade in United Kingdom quotes against. Scrap is priced as a discount to these.
A firm that handles several metals appears under each.
