Bulk scrap import for Gujarat mills

Kandla, now Deendayal Port, is the government-owned major port on the Gulf of Kutch and a long-standing scrap import point for Gujarat. Bulk ferrous scrap for the induction-furnace mills of Kutch, Saurashtra and Ahmedabad is discharged at its cargo berths, and the Kandla Special Economic Zone beside the port holds scrap processing and metal units.

Kandlaโ€™s container terminal takes non-ferrous scrap for the Jamnagar brass industry and the aluminium processors of the region, sharing that trade with the private port at Mundra a short distance along the coast.
