Ningbo–Zhoushan is the largest port in the world by cargo tonnage and the gateway for Zhejiang, a province whose Taizhou and Ningbo recycling parks process imported copper and aluminium. Recycled metal raw material meeting Chinese standards arrives in containers and goes to the processing zones at Zhenhai, Taizhou and Wenzhou.
The port also serves the Zhejiang steel industry with bulk cargoes, and its proximity to Shanghai gives shippers a choice of two deep-water gateways into the Yangtze delta.
