Since 2021, recycled non-ferrous material may be imported when it meets purity standards under GB/T 38470-2019 and related specifications.
Domestic industry covers integrated copper smelting, aluminium production, an extensive steel sector spread across multiple provinces, and significant stainless steel manufacturing. Production and consumption clusters are concentrated in Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Anhui, Shanghai, Tianjin, and Yunnan, with downstream manufacturing belts in the Pearl River and Yangtze River deltas.
