Cast alloy car and truck wheels, free of tyres, valves, weights and steel inserts — a single-alloy casting grade that remelts cleanly into wheel and casting alloy.
Alloy wheels are cast from a small family of aluminium–silicon alloys, so a lot of clean wheels is as predictable as a prompt-scrap grade. The Troma specification asks for clean, single-piece alloy wheels free of tyres, valve stems, lead balance weights, hubcaps, studs and steel inserts, with chrome-plated or heavily painted wheels sold separately.
Tyre shops, dismantlers and wheel manufacturers (whose rejects and machining scrap are the best material) are the sources.
Wheel remelters and secondary smelters buy Troma at a premium over Tense. The trade moves from North America, Europe and Japan to India, South-East Asia and South Korea, and within each producing region. Lead weights are the critical contaminant: a few left on the wheels will put lead into an entire melt.
