About the event

Bureau of International Recycling · Rotating European city · May, every year

The Bureau of International Recycling is the world federation of the recycling trade, with member associations and companies in some 70 countries, and its spring convention is the largest gathering of scrap traders in the calendar. It moves between European cities — Amsterdam, Barcelona, Lisbon, Copenhagen, Valencia and others have hosted it — and runs over three days of commodity round-tables (ferrous, non-ferrous, stainless and special alloys, e-scrap, plastics, paper, tyres) alongside a trading floor where buyers and sellers from every exporting and importing region meet.

For the metal trade the ferrous and non-ferrous round-tables matter most: the mills, the big processors and the traders report on their markets, and the BIR’s own statistics and world reports are released around the event. Deals are done in the corridors; the convention is where a Turkish mill buyer, a US East Coast exporter and a Gulf trader can meet in one morning.
