About the event

Recycled Materials Association (formerly ISRI) · United States — Las Vegas, San Diego, Nashville and other cities · April–May, every year

ReMA — the Recycled Materials Association, until 2024 known as ISRI — is the US trade association whose scrap specifications circular defines the code-word grades (HMS, Barley, Honey, Zorba, Taint/Tabor and the rest) used in contracts across the world. Its annual convention is the largest recycling trade show in North America, with an exhibition hall of shredders, shears, balers, sorters and analysers as well as commodity sessions and the association’s own policy and safety programmes.

Because the United States is the largest scrap exporter, the convention draws buyers from Turkey, India, Mexico, South Korea and South-East Asia. Equipment makers launch new machines here, and the specifications committee’s work on grade definitions is discussed in the sessions.
