Fastmarkets, the price-reporting agency whose assessments the ferrous scrap trade uses daily, runs an annual Middle East iron and steel conference in Dubai. The Gulf is both a scrap source (through Jebel Ali and Hamriyah) and a steel-producing region, and the conference brings the Gulf and Turkish mills, the traders of Dubai and the exporters of Europe and the US together around scrap, DRI, billet and rebar markets.
