28 named firms across 5 scrap hubs — Gadani, Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar
Pakistan's steel industry runs overwhelmingly on melting scrap. Electric and induction furnace mills around Karachi, Lahore and the north melt a mix of imported shredded and HMS with domestic collection, feeding the country's construction sector. The ship-breaking beaches at Gadani, on the Balochistan coast, remain one of the largest sources of heavy melting steel anywhere in the world.
Import demand is steady and price-sensitive, with buyers active across the Gulf, Europe and North America for containerised scrap. Domestic collection networks in Punjab and Sindh supply re-rolling and induction furnace clusters alongside the documented mills.
The exchanges and price services the trade in Pakistan quotes against. Scrap is priced as a discount to these.
A firm that handles several metals appears under each.
