35 named firms across 5 scrap hubs — Dunkerque, Fos-sur-Mer, Le Havre, Lyon, Paris
France combines large-scale steelmaking on its northern and Mediterranean coasts with one of the most developed metal recycling industries in Europe. Groups such as Derichebourg and GDE operate national collection and shredding networks that feed both domestic furnaces and the export trade through Channel and Atlantic ports.
On the production side, electric arc furnace plants and speciality steelmakers — including stainless producers in the Alps and the north — draw steadily on domestic scrap, while the aluminium and copper industries maintain dedicated remelting and cable-recycling capacity.
The exchanges and price services the trade in France quotes against. Scrap is priced as a discount to these.
A firm that handles several metals appears under each.
