23 named firms across 6 scrap hubs — Antwerp, Beerse, Ghent, Hoboken, Menen, Olen
Belgium hosts some of the most advanced metals recycling operations in the world. Aurubis Beerse — formerly Metallo — is one of Europe's leading recyclers of complex copper scrap, Aurubis Olen produces copper rod, and Umicore's plant at Hoboken near Antwerp is a global reference for recycling precious-metal-bearing and electronic scrap.
Steelmaking is anchored by ArcelorMittal Belgium at Ghent, with stainless production at Aperam's Genk and Châtelet sites. Galloo, headquartered at Menen, operates one of Europe's largest shredding and scrap processing networks across Belgium and northern France.
The exchanges and price services the trade in Belgium quotes against. Scrap is priced as a discount to these.
