11 named firms across 5 scrap hubs — Aveiro, Lisbon, Maia, Porto, Seixal
Portuguese steelmaking runs on scrap. The electric furnaces at Seixal and Maia — part of the Iberian Megasa group — melt domestic collection supplemented by imports through Lisbon and Leixões, producing rebar and wire rod for the Iberian market.
The recycling sector combines national collectors with ship-dismantling capability on the Tagus, and the aluminium industry adds extrusion capacity in the north.
The exchanges and price services the trade in Portugal quotes against. Scrap is priced as a discount to these.
A firm that handles several metals appears under each.
