This week in the scrap trade

Week of 23–24 October 2026 — A short two-day edition covering 23–24 October. Old ships stay away from recycling yards because freight earnings are high, ex-China copper scrap remains tight, Chinese stainless scrap prices firm a little, and secondary lead supply in China tightens.

From the yard to the furnace

Melting scrap is the raw material of the secondary metals industry — the steel, copper, aluminium, zinc, stainless and brass that goes back into the furnace. It is collected in yards, sheared, shredded and baled, graded to ReMA (ISRI) specifications, loaded in containers or bulk, shipped through the scrap ports, and bought by electric arc furnace mills, induction furnace plants, smelters and refiners in forty countries.

MeltingScrap.com follows that chain country by country and metal by metal: the named mills, smelters, recyclers, importers and exporters; the scrap hubs of 195 cities with their yards and trading areas; the machinery that processes scrap; the ports and free zones; the ship-recycling yards; the grades, prices, fairs, tenders, standards and bodies. Every name carries an About and an Explore button that opens a live Google AI answer.

This site is purely informative. It sells nothing, quotes nothing and acts for nobody.
